Our Team

  • Paul

I work as a mediator, facilitator and trainer. I’ve been exploring the principles of Nonviolent Communication, Restorative Circles, Convergent Facilitation and related processes since 2009, and I care a lot about drawing on these to support groups working for environmental and social justice. I believe deeply that another world is possible, where systems and cultures are focused on caring for all life and everyone’s needs. I see the ways we engage with conflict, share power, make decisions and work together as central to positive social and systemic change. This is partly because I think these areas hold massive potential for empowering our movements, and also because I believe better processes and systems in these areas are central to a world that works for all.

  • Roz

I’ve found huge richness in working with and in groups all my adult life; from communities of migrants recently arrived in the UK, to housing cooperatives and cohousing groups, to volunteer communities, to activist and grass roots organisations. I feel our times calling us to live boldly by our most dearly held values, to find new and better ways to work effectively and collaboratively, and to connect with each other and the world around us. It’s deeply meaningful and inspiring to me to work with so many people who are striving for more equitable, compassionate societies.

  • Ama

I work primarily as a Conflict Mediator in Navigate, and so appreciate the work of listening deeply and accompanying people when times are tough. I was trained at the beginning of 2020 by Paul, and immediately found a lot of resonance with my practice and training in Wholebody Focusing, a way of listening to the body, holding everything with respect, and trusting the process.

I came to Navigate after 15 years exploring different ways to contribute to a world of justice, through activism and grassroots organising, policy work, campaigning and coalition building, and localised community projects. As our crises deepen and the routes out of the devastation feel increasingly challenging, I am grateful to be part of this team meeting hope and possibility anew each day - and supporting others in social movements who I’m constantly inspired by. I’m always keen for a deep chat about social movement strategy, and need long walks in the mountains to keep me going.

  • Julia

I joined Navigate in January 2024 to support the team with admin and operations tasks. Over the last 8 years or so I have been involved in a variety of grassroots campaigns, particularly around climate and migrant justice. I have experienced the challenges that arise frequently in activist groups that are not well resourced with facilitation skills, and the impact this can have on their capacity. I'm passionate about supporting the Navigate team as we contribute to the building of social movements that are diverse, resilient, and collectively powerful to effect radical and systemic positive change.

With a lifelong delight and fascination in the natural world, I come to Navigate with a background in academic research in biology, related outreach and communications work, and more recently training in agroecological farming. I work part-time for Navigate, and with my other workdays grow vegetables and seed crops on a small, organic market garden in Devon.
